A person has died after being hit by a train just outside St Albans City Station this afternoon (Thursday).
The person was pronounced dead at the scene and police and ambulance services are currently in attendance.
All lines are currently blocked. No trains are moving in or out of the station after being either cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Roger Perkins, a spokesperson for Govia Thameslink, said that they are hoping to get the slow lines open again shortly but there will be delays continuing for at least the next hour.
He added: “We are hoping to get back into a good state for the evening rush hour.”
Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
A file will be prepared for the coroner.
