A chief executive and six board members took the biscuit when they completed a 160-mile bike ride from Llantarnam in Wales to St Albans, raising £7,337 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ben Clarke, CEO of Burton’s Biscuit Company in St Albans and board members Stephen Carson, Jim Beaty, Neil Grocock, Sarah Spittle, Ben Boase and Nick Field spent three days on two wheels last month to support the charity.

Ben said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge – it was great to see the team’s training put into action and to raise money for such a worthy cause.

“It’s certainly going to be interesting getting back to our desk chairs.”

The money raised could fund a nurse for seven weeks, support a social worker for three months or pay for an information support centre for one month.

Adam Nash, Macmillan account manager, said: “I’d like to say a huge congratulations to the board at Burton’s Biscuit Company for completing such an incredible feat.

“Cancer can be the loneliest place, but the Macmillan team want to ensure that no-one has to face cancer alone and without the help of partners like Burton’s, we simply couldn’t do this.”
