A six-month-old Southdown Cross sheep has been stolen from a farm in Wheathampstead.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which occurred between 4.30pm on September 14 and 1.00pm the following day, to come forward with information.
PC Jane Flemons said: “The farm runs alongside a busy road and I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact me.
“It is thought the offender may have pulled onto the side of the road in a van, or similar vehicle, in order to take the animal.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
