Pupils are getting ready for the Paralympic Games with a visit from the Torch Tour team.
Camp Nursery and Primary School in St Albans, joined by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gill Clark, enjoyed an exciting visit from the ParalympicsGB Rio 2016 Torch Team last week, which only visits 100 schools across the UK.
The children cheered during a celebratory torch procession through the school with the actual Rio torch taking centre stage.
Prior to the visit, Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in workshop activities designed to increase their understanding of Paralympic sports, sportsmanship and values.
The tour aims to raise awareness of the Paralympic Movement and does not visit any other countries before the Paralympic Games take place in Rio this September.
Acting head teacher of Camp School, Mrs Sharon Barton, said: “What a fantastic opportunity for our pupils and whole school community to feel a part of the wider preparations for the games in Rio this summer, a real inspiration to us all.”
