St Albans MP Anne Main has welcomed the result of the EU Referendum.
Mrs Main, who has been campaigning for the UK to Leave, said: “This is a big wake-up call for the country – the people of Britain have spoken and this is the democratic choice of our country and from my position the right choice. It’s now the time for the government and the people to proceed with calm to get the best result from this Referendum.
“It’s a new start for the country.”
She also responded to the resignation of David Cameron as Prime Minister: “’I’m disappointed that David Cameron has resigned as Prime Minister immediately after the result. I think this was a knee-jerk reaction when a period of reflective clam was needed for a decision as fundamentally important as this.”
