A new detached house is proposed for the former car park of a 17th century pub which closed in 2014.
Planning permission was granted earlier this year for The Blue Anchor in Fishpool Street, St Albans, a Grade II listed building, to be converted ito a four-bedroomed house.
Now a new application has been submitted for a two-storey house with a basement floor to be build on what was the car park of the Blue Anchor, abutting Verulamium Park and adjoining St Michael’s Court.
The Blue Anchor was owned by McMullen’s and closed its doors for the last time in spring 2014. The company maintained it had tried to find a suitable tenant for the pub but without success.
