A spate of burglaries which saw cash, watches and jewellery stolen from homes across St Albans may all be connected.

Detectives are linking raids on three homes on February 28 with an attempted burglary a few days later, in which the would-be thief used the same method to break in but was caught red-handed.

The suspect is described as aged between 50 and 60, with a short grey beard.

Between 12.45pm and 9pm on February 28 watches and jewellery was stolen from an address in Gurney Court Road, between 7.10-9.55pm on the same day cash was taken from a house in Beech Road, and also between 7.45-9pm jewellery was swiped from Jerome Drive.

The fourth incident happened on Worley Road between 7.10-7.20pm on March 2, and the person who disturbed him trying to get into the house said he was wearing a flat black cap and dark overcoat.

Anyone who has information on these crimes should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
