Pupils from a primary school in St Albans walked to school despite wet conditions for ‘Walk to School’ week.
Children from Margaret Wix Primary School in High Oaks celebrated National Walk to School Week, supported by the Hertfordshire county council Road Safety in Schools Team, by walking to school on Wednesday, May 17.
Primary schools across the county signed up to either walk or ride on scooters alongside mascots Buster and Betsy the dinosaurs.
The Road Safety team is encouraging walking to school to help children keep healthy and happy, and be ready to learn, as well as reducing pollution and congestion outside schools.
Simon Brown, from the Road Safety Partnership, said: “So far the whole week has been a roaring success with children across Hertfordshire enjoying fresh air whatever the weather.
“With May being National Walking Month what better excuse for parents, teachers and children, in fact everyone, to pull on their walking shoes and get moving and get all the benefits of being active.”
