A group of Green Belt campaigners are organising a barn dance to help save land from redevelopment.
Save Symondshyde hope hundreds of people will attend the dance, which is actually being held in a tipi, not a barn.
The group’s chairman, John Gardner, said: “This is a fantastic effort by local businesses to help us protect an outstanding and well-loved area of Green Belt land.
“A great many people have generously contributed to our auction, which includes a family photo-shoot, a Christmas wreath, beauty treatment, and a luxury safari holiday to Tanzania.”
The dance will be held near Beech Hyde Farm in Wheathampsted on Saturday, September 9.
It is close to the site targeted for redevelopment for 1,130 houses by the Gascoyne Cecil estate.
Tickets for the dance, cost £10 for children, and £20 for adults, and are available from www.save-symondshyde.co.uk/event/symondshyde-last-chance-barn-dance
