A group of teenagers have been arrested after St Albans City Football Club was smashed up.
Intruders entered the Clarence Park ground between 4pm and 4.30pm on Sunday, February 11.
The criminals broke into the caretaker’s shed and took several pots of paint which were then thrown over the seating.
The club also says the tunnel players walk out of, some windows, and several framed pictures were damaged and they believe the criminals climbed in via the public toilets outside.
Club secretary Tom Norman said: “Yet again we have had a break-in at the ground where a vast amount of damage was done and it’s going to be very expensive.
“The club is already losing money every season, so this is a disappointing setback. We may be left to pick up the bill.”
Last year, thieves snatched away the till from the ground and in 2014, burglars stole £200 and caused £5k-worth of damage to the ground.
Mr Norman added it’s very easy to get into the ground, even when it’s secured by the club.
•A 14-year-old and two 15-year-old boys from St Albans were arrested on suspicion of burglary, and the two older ones were also suspected of causing criminal damage.
All three have been released under investigation.
Anyone with information which could help the police has been asked to ring 101 and give reference number F1/18/704.
