A man driving in St Albans asked an 11-year-old girl to get into his van.
Police were called at 8.01am on Thursday, April 19, to reports that the girl had been approached while walking down Whitecroft by a man driving a white van.
He asked her to get into the van and, when she declined, he drove off. At no point did the man leave the van.
The man is described as Asian, between 40 and 50 years old, and with a short dark brown or black beard. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
The van is descibed as a small, Kangoo van rather than a transit.
The local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Samuel Ryder Academy, the nearest school, have been informed.
Anyone with information should contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference ISR 125 of April 19.
