A St Albans pop artist is having his work exhibited at this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Morgan Howell’s hand-painted copy of the vinyl cover for The Beatles’ Yesterday will hang alongside 1,300 pieces at the 250th such exhibition.
He said: “Previously I was shortlisted and received display notices, but I have never made it to the wall.
“It seems fitting I am now there with a piece inspired by the most covered song of all time which was number one in the USA the day I was born.”
The piece was originally painted in 2015 and was hung in Los Angeles at the Capitol Tower, the offices of the label which published Yesterday.
Morgan had consulted with Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn about which piece to paint for the Capitol Tower and both concluded Yesterday was the most fitting.
The exhibition will run until Sunday, August 19 and to find out more about Morgan visit supersizeart.myshopify.com
