A police appeal has been launched after Redbourn’s Co-op store was ram-raided during the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called at 2.10am after reports that a red Land Rover Defender was repeatedly reversed into the front of the High Street store – before the offenders began to tie chains around the ATM machine.
However they were disturbed and made off in another vehicle, thought to be a grey Audi. Nothing was taken from the store.
A red Mini parked nearby was also damaged during the incident.
The fire service assisted police to make sure the structure of the store was safe.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who has information they think may assist the investigation and have not yet spoken to police are asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 41/24102/18.
Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will never need to go to court.
