A 47-year-old man from Harpenden has died at St Albans City station after being struck by a train.
British Transport Police officers were called at 3.40pm yesterday, as did an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer.
An ambulance service spokesperson said: “Despite the best efforts of our crews and British Transport Police, the patient sadly died at the scene.”
A file is being prepared for the coroner. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The station was closed until 7.10pm. Thameslink, which operates services out of the station, said commuters can claim compensation for delayed journeys through Delay Repay.
