Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has launched the third round of an initiative to give cash from driving offences to worthy causes.
David Lloyd has announced the third round of the Road Safety Fund, which gives money to fund road safety initiatives.
Previous rounds of applications to the fund have benefited public sector organisations, volunteer groups, community groups and businesses in Stevenage, St Albans, Welwyn Hatfield, Hertsmere and Watford.
Mr Lloyd said: “The fund gives local people and organisations a say in developing and designing local solutions where a need has been identified.
“It funds projects that will assist in the delivery of a holistic mix of engineering, education and enforcement activity that is focused on reducing road casualties and antisocial road use.
“I am looking forward to receiving innovative and new ideas in this round of bidding, which will help to identify and address local road safety problems in Hertfordshire.”
Since 2016, the commissioner has used £712,000 to support 48 road safety initiatives including speed indication devices, signage, education schemes and support for road traffic collision victims.
The fund opens for bids on Friday, September 28 for a period of six weeks. The closing date for applications is November 9. More details about the fund can be found at www.hertscommissioner.org/road-safety-fund
