A St Albans marathon runner has raised £2,300 for young people with facial disfigurements in Africa.
Emily Eldred completed the Virgin Money London Marathon, her first 26.2mile race, on April 28 in four hours, 24 minutes, and 36 seconds.
The 25-year-old was raising money for Project Harar, a charity which treats and rehabilitates children and young people with facial deformities in Ethiopia.
She has already raised £2,300, but hopes to bump up that total for the good cause.
“It was really amazing, I completed my first marathon and I am really happy. The crowds and the atmosphere were incredible and they really got my through those last few miles, which were tough,” she said. [Crossing the finish line] was overwhelming, it was an amazing feeling going through all that and knowing I had raised so much money for Project Harar - I am still buzzing.”
