An amber snow warning has been issued for Hertfordshire later today and tomorrow – with motorists advised to travel only if necessary.
Heavier snow and strong winds are expected, with some areas set to receive up to 10cm (3.9in) of snow and 30-to-40mph gusts of winds – causing travel disruption and extended journey times.
Highways England has issued the snow warning this afternoon.
A police spokesman said: “Road users are advised to take extra care and avoid, if at all possible, travelling during the severe weather alert.”
