A YOUNG motorist was airlifted to hospital after his car crashed down an embankment into an inaccessible field.
The accident, which involved only one vehicle, occurred at around 8.30am on Sunday morning when the car left Redbourn by-pass and went down a 20-foot embankment.
Because it was so difficult for the emergency services to get to the vehicle which came off the road close to the junction with Redbourn Lane, an air ambulance landed in an adjoining field.
It took the motorist, believed to be in his late teens, to Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises.
