FIRE crews who fought a blaze which engulfed a derelict care home at the weekend believe it was an arson attack - but police are not investigating.
Six crews of firefighters fought to bring the fire, which ripped through the first floor of James Marshall House in Harpenden on Saturday evening, under control.
The blaze broke out in the building in Leyton Road just before 6pm and it was out by 7.30pm, leaving extensive fire and water damage.
A St Albans firefighter explained that there were several seats of fire which indicated that it had been started deliberately and a subsequent fire investigation confirmed their suspicions.
But the matter was passed on to the police who don't believe there is anything suspicious about the incident and have closed the book on it.
