A CLOSURE-threatened Harpenden post office is to shut despite a campaign to save it.
The Station Road North post office has been told it is to close meaning that all six threatened post offices in the St Albans district will have to shut their doors.
Politicians of all parties fought to save the Harpenden post office which serves the Batford and Westfield areas.
But the Post Office maintains that customers will be able to get to the main Harpenden branch by bus and facilities for the disabled are in place there.
