ST ALBANS runners pounded the pavements of London in aid of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s on Bank Holiday Monday.

Chris Quelch, 40, who works in marketing for the association, completed the London 10k in 62 minutes followed closely by Lisa Bates, general manager of the St Albans Chamber of Commerce. More than 110 people ran on behalf of the charity, raising several thousand pounds for research into the painful bowel diseases.

Lisa said: “The run itself was very inspiring, but it was only the fabulous landmarks and the bands en route that kept me going. I wanted to pack up halfway round.”
