LAST year we enjoyed a summer of sporting success as we cheered on our proud Olympians. This year the Herts Ad, in partnership with Fitness First St Albans, is giving four lucky readers the chance to make their own fitness journey and celebrate their own achievement when they cross the finish line of the Herts 10K in October, raising funds for Grove House Hospice.

Over a two month period Fitness First trainers will provide expert coaching and will keep you motivated as you train to compete in your first 10K race. Your trainers will give you all the encouragement and expertise you need to complete the Herts 10K.

The Herts 10K takes place on Sunday October 13 and our lucky winners will take part alongside 3,000 other runners, a fantastic experience in itself. Whether you are a group of young mums looking to get fit post baby, work colleagues who want to set yourself a challenge, a family who want to achieve something together or simply an individual who has the desire to get fit - we’d love to hear from you.

This experience is made all the more rewarding as the run is organised by local charity, Grove House and runners will be raising sponsorship money to help fund the charity’s services. Through its 24/7 responsive Hospice at Home nursing service, the Day Hospice and other support services, Grove House is able to offer local patients diagnosed with life-limiting illness the choice to be cared for at home, with all services being provided at no cost to the patient or their family.

The winners will share the highs and lows of their fitness journey with other Herts Advertiser readers in a regular column in the paper and these weekly progress updates may well inspire other readers to join in too.

We are looking for people who have a real desire to change their lifestyle and get fit and who are willing to share their story. In return they will receive £80 worth of personal training each week combining specialist strength, endurance and speed training along with a personal advise and tips on nutrition plus 3 months gym membership worth £140.85. There will also be the opportunity to use all the facilities available at Fitness First St Albans.

They will also receive free entry to the Herts 10K and winners will be encouraged to ask friends and family to sponsor them through the whole journey from winning the competition through to crossing the finish line.

For four readers this really is a fantastic opportunity.

If you’d like to have your moment of sporting success simply tell us in 200 words or fewer why you’d like to get fit and take part in the Herts 10K. Please send your entries to hertsad@archant.co.uk with the subject line of Herts 10K competition. The closing date for entries is August 23 . Your personal training programme will begin as soon as possible and continue until the Herts 10K.
