SIR, - Re your story headlined "City-centre car ban is back on the agenda" (Herts Advertiser, March 19). When the safety and enhancement scheme was completed I was assured by a Herts County Council (HCC) highways engineer that its operation would be carefully monitored.
It would help discussion of further options if HCC would now publish a properly-audited evaluation based on this monitoring, which should include before-and-after figures on traffic flow, delays, the incidence of accidents and, as far as possible, the impact on trade.
