SIR, - The Abbey School's decision to give spare places only to pupils who have been ticked off on Canon Stephen Lake's attendance register demonstrates all that is wrong with denominational schools.
The Abbey is a publically-maintained primary school which should serve the local community on a non-discriminatory basis, rather than on the basis of parental belief.
