SIR, - May I say a big thank you to Councillor David Poor and his son, Andrew. I live in a retirement bungalow and David emailed me to ask if the people in the bungalows were OK during the snow. I mentioned to him that the only problem was the paths outside our bungalows and the pavements were very icy and did he have a contact at St Albans District Council who might be able to help.
Instead David and Andrew arrived last Sunday morning with spades and spent a couple of hours clearing the ice from the paths and pavements and putting down grit, to make it safe to walk. A good samaritan indeed. Thank you David and Andrew.
MRS D. JAMES,
Tavistock Close, St Albans.
