SIR - Would you please be so kind as to print a word of thanks to the anonymous couple that came to our rescue at Verulamium Park on the morning of Saturday, August 22.
Our family dog emerged from the river and we quickly noticed that he was bleeding from his leg. Upon further examination we saw the wound was bleeding profusely and would not stop despite our efforts to apply pressure. Several kind people offered their help, however this couple immediately offered their child's muslin cloth to be tied firmly around the gash.
We would like them to know that our dog had actually cut through an artery and but for their quick thinking probably would not be with us today. The muslin curbed the flow of blood and enabled us to get him to a vet, who stiched the wound that same afternoon.
Their kindness has been greatly appreciated, I would love to think they may read this and know that their kind gesture has given us many more years with our faithful canine friend.
