SIR, - I have no knowledge of scruffy shelters (Herts Advertiser, May 29), but I have a daily reminder of scruffy St Albans District Council notice boards on Bernard's Heath, in Sandridge Road and Townsend Drive as I have to look at them whenever I go out. Their dilapidated state is in sharp contrast to the adjacent, beautiful information boards provided by the Friends of Bernard's Heath.
The council boards have been in their present sorry state for several years and I have complained about them from time to time with no result. I am sure there must be a handyman or woman living in the area who could provide new boards for very little cost. If we leave it to the council it will probably mean a rise in council tax.
J. HALL,
Waverley Road, St Albans.
