SIR, - I am so much in agreement with Phyl Swindlehurst (Herts Advertiser, July 3). In the present situation I only one-third fill a plastic bag with non-recyclable rubbish. Consequently, when the new black wheelies are delivered, I have asked for a 150-litre one instead of the standard 250 litre. Hard plastic, such as flower pots, yoghurt pots, meat and vegetable trays can also be recycled at Harpenden's Dark Lane depot. Having recycled plastic carrier bags there, I have recently discovered that all plastic bags can be taken there - e.g. bags from the frozen cabinets at supermarkets such as vegetables, bread, etc, also crisp and snack bags and thin plastic bags which are used for fresh fruit and vegetables. I have not yet found a recycling point for Tetra Paks in Harpenden. Any ideas?
