SIR, - I was very interested to learn that Harpenden Town Mayor, Cllr Pat Kent, was excited that Harpenden Common was to have a green flag (Herts Advertiser, February 19).
I wish she could get more excited about the state of Harpenden town which, as someone said in your letters page, is getting more and more dirty.
I realise that we come under St Albans District Council but surely Cllr Kent can bring pressure to bear for a clean-up or even arrange a litter-picking day as we used to have.
