SIR, - I am completely baffled by Mr Philip Webster's retort to my letter (Herts Advertiser, April 10) which in no way concerned parking controls.
It is clear that actually his desire is to launch his own personal crusade and has no relevance to the content of my original letter.
My concerns were based on the Herts Advertiser story that we might see in the future parking attendants given police power of spot fines for traffic offences additional to their present remit.
Well Philip Webster, where does that mention the issue of parking. It is an issue we should all be concerned with when, without debate or a bill passed, potentially employees of NCP are given police powers.
If you are happy with that as a concept then I suspect you are in the minority.
He then decides based on no evidence at all to make the assumption that I am obviously the "type" of person who parks where I like.
For information, I spend most of my days in St Albans which I have done since 1965 and also park legally and with due respect to disabled bays and parents parking spaces which is more than can be said for a percentage of St Albans residents who have little connection or appreciation of either the history or the culture of this city and see it as convenient for commuting and a useful house investment.
