St Albans former office building set to be turned into houses

A listed former office building in central St Albans is being sold as a residential development opportunity.
Full planning permission and listed building consent was granted on October 4 to convert 103-105 St Peter’s Street - two attached 19th century Grade II listed buildings with modern rear extensions - into three houses with 10 mews-style houses to the rear.
The city centre development, which is opposite St Peter’s churchyard, is being offered for sale by informal tender with a guide price of £6m.
Accountancy firm Kingston Smith were the most recent occupants of the building, and vacated last year after more than three decades.
The proposed development will see numbers 103 and 105 converted into three houses with garages and gardens.

103 will be a four storey, five-bed house measuring 5,700 sq ft while 105 will be converted into a pair of two storey homes; one will have four bedrooms and will measure 2,549 sq ft, while the other will have three bedrooms and measure 1,706 sq ft.
The 10 three storey mews houses are planned for what is currently a car park accommodating around 80 cars at the rear of the building. They will have allocated parking and will each measure between 1,348-1,466 sq ft.

Access to all properties apart from number 103 will be from St Peter’s Close. 12 parking spaces will also be provided to 107 St Peter’s Street.
