Harrison Murray Estate Agents are making it their mission to save lives.

On Saturday, The Orchard Primary School in Watford received the donation of a defibrillator from Glynn Pope, the estate agency manager at the St Albans office of Harrison Murray (part of The Nottingham Building Society).

It’s the 45th potentially life saving donation that the charity Wayne’s Fund, founded by Mr Pope, has placed in public places across the county since 2005 – the year his brother Wayne tragically died, aged just 30, from cardiac condition Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

The school have expressed their great thanks toward Mr Pope and the charity. Head teacher Paul Sutton said: “The school learned about Wayne’s Fund through a life that was saved at another school in the area and when we initially met with Glynn to discuss the charity we had no idea that such an amazing gift would be bestowed on us that day!

“The work Glynn is doing in memory of his brother Wayne is truly amazing. We recognise how valuable the defibrillator will be not only to our school but also our local community.

“We will of course ensure we make a donation to Wayne’s Fund to support another school or organisation in the future.”

Each defibrillator costs £2,000 - meaning Wayne’s Fund has raised £90,000 thus far, sure to soon reach a 50 placement milestone, meaning the charity will have raised a massive £100,000. So far, Mr Pope has donated to various public spaces, such as schools, a police station and an ice rink.

He said at the weekend: “I was delighted to go along to The Orchard Primary School to present the defib. Over the last ten years they have been used to help save many lives. We all hope The Orchard never have to use theirs but the teachers, parents and pupils have the reassurance that it is there should they ever need it.”
