An estate agency founder is retiring 25 years after setting up the business.

Tony Putterill is stepping down from his role at the top of Putterills, which has 10 agencies across Herts, including St Albans and Harpenden.

Tony said “ We have just started our 25th year in business and I feel now is the right time for me to hang up my clip board and tape measure after 45 years in agency. I am delighted to hand the reins to Mark Shearing whose very capable hands will guide Putterills through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. I know he will maintain the overriding Putterills’ ethos of quality and service with the full support of the other directors.”

Mark, who has been with the company for 24 years, added: “It will be very sad to see Tony leave the Putterills group, which really is one big family, very rare in a business environment these days and a testament to how highly regarded Tony is. The property market is evolving all the time and at a much faster pace, I look forward to ensuring that Putterills remains at the absolute forefront of innovation and being able to make sure that our clients continue to receive the best possible advice and service when dealing with what is often their most valuable assets.

“The year ahead is likely to be busy, but not without its challenges as there are many factors such as Brexit and the overall economy that effect the property market. However, fundamentally, with a shortage of housing, full employment in our area and low interest rates, the vital ingredients for a strong local market remain there. We wish Tony a long, happy and healthy retirement.”
