Anyone who’s ever bought – or tried to buy – a house will know that the search for the dream abode can become a full time job.
From stalking Rightmove in the early hours, to calling estate agents at 9am to secure that vital first viewing, any attempt at playing it cool goes out the window when the ideal home – or even the half decent one – becomes available.
According to a new study from Nottingham Building Society, more than a third of house hunters – 35 per cent – are checking in with estate agents at least once a day, while a seriously house-obsessed 10 per cent admitted to phoning or emailing agents even more regularly.
More interestingly, 72 per cent of respondents said they regularly trawl property sites despite having no immediate intention of moving. That’s property porn right there. There are worse things you could be doing with your time than lusting over Zoopla of course – and browsing other peoples’ properties is a good way of coming up with interior design ideas, right?!
Su Snaith, Head of Estate Agency at The Nottingham, said: “Home buying and selling has changed in recent years as more online services have become accessible but as this research shows the one thing that does not change is people’s appetite to keep updated of changes to the market.” We’re with you on that, Su.
