Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is inviting pet owners to submit their favourite photos into a nationwide competition to find the purr-fect pet picture.

Britain is a nation of animal lovers and almost half of the UK’s households have a pet. There’s no doubt about it - your pet is definitely one of the family. And last year’s Pets Make A Home competition was such a resounding success that it’s making a comeback next month.

Besides continuing to innovate with its range of house designs on developments across the UK, Taylor Wimpey is giving pet owners another chance to enter a snap of their furry friends in their favourite place at home. Does your cat love to recline on the bed or sunbathe on the windowsill? Does your dog enjoy chilling out somewhere bizarre? Does your iguana like to leave its tank for the comfort of the carpet? If so, capture it and send it in.

The photo with the most votes each day during the competition will win a hamper stocked with animal treats, courtesy of Armitage Pet Care – whilst the photo with the most votes overall will win £500 worth of high street vouchers.

Whether you have a cat, bird, snake, hamster, guinea pig or fish, they’re sure to make your house feel like home, and Taylor Wimpey want photographic evidence of this.

Results from last year’s Pets Make A Home competition reveal some interesting facts about our love for our animal companions. 150 Staffordshire bull terriers were entered into the competition. The most popular dog name was Poppy. Cats made up 22 percent of entries. And even racoons and owls made an appearance.

This year’s competition launches on 7th September and entries will be accepted until 2nd October, when the winners will be announced.

Gareth Jacob, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We were delighted with the success of last year’s Pets Make A Home competition, which left us in no doubt that pets really do make a house a home! We heard some amazing stories about them too, so we can’t wait to see the pictures that pet owners submit this time round!”

Pet owners will be able to enter photos of their pet by visiting www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/pets and submitting their details via the specially created app.

Twitter and Instagram users can also enter by tweeting or posting their image via their own account with the hashtag #TWPetsMakeAHome. Entrants will receive a response message thanking them for their entry as confirmation. Alternatively, pet owners can submit their image on the Taylor Wimpey Facebook page or by emailing pets@taylorwimpey.com.

People can then visit the Taylor Wimpey website and Facebook page to view the entries and vote for their favourite pet!
