SIR - The increase in parking charges at St Albans City Station goes beyond outrageous. A 45 per cent rise on the previous charge is totally without justification and amounts to naked profiteering at its most blatant. First Capital Connect (FCC) are not even pretending otherwise - staff at the car park just laughed when I politely expressed my indignation at the increase.
How are ordinary people expected to absorb a daily rise which could amount to an extra £36 a month or more? Where do the relevant authorities stand on this? Herts County Council has already wasted a small fortune on the ridiculous and disruptive reorganisation of the station traffic system and it seems everywhere is dominated by an anti-car ideology? Our local MP? The Government? How about a consumer boycott of the car park? It's summer and I for one could do with the exercise.
