SIR - Fundamental to the Local Development Plan is a consideration of the major demands on the traffic network by three existing major developments and two possible future developments.
Luton Airport wants 30 million passengers a year and forecasts 60 per cent will arrive by car. Assuming half come from south of Luton that is a vast amount of traffic on the M1 and parallel roads.
Butterfly World probably wants 10 million visitors a year and the new Sandridge Woodland would like several million visitors a year.
Then add Helioslough's proposals and the government demand for 7,200 homes in St Albans and the result will be permanent grid lock like that to be found in Lagos, Nigeria.
Will there be a new post code M1M25 for the centre of this maelstrom?
