SIR, - It was good to see a photo of our ex-St Albans MP Peter Lilley - now MP for Hitchin and Harpenden - and the news item that he attended a protest meeting against the proposed expansion of Luton Airport (Herts Advertiser, January 12). It is pity when he was our MP and a senior Minister, he did not make a valiant effort or attempt to keep City Hospital open as an acute facility. Now our historic city is without an NHS acute hospital despite having an ever-expanding population. We wonder what is the new Conservative MP's stance on this matter? DAYA S.W.
