SIR, - In the middle of July I walked through St Albans Abbey into Verulamium Park. I had to take photographs of the scenes I beheld - the rubbish strewn over the park was breathtaking. I can only include my photographs and ask why on Earth this kind of vandalism is tolerated.

It is an utter desecration of a beautiful space, and a mindless waste of resources. It made me thoroughly ashamed - despite not being a resident.
