SIR - While waiting for the bus in St Peter's Street last Saturday, October 24, I was appalled to see at least six perfectly good robust pallets thrown into the rubbish lorry and crushed up.
I was thinking what a good job the men were making of the dismantling of the stalls and the clearing-up when one man picked up a pallet and tossed it into the lorry as if this was standard practice.
If this is standard practice on market days then it is a criminal waste of wood and in a year a small forest is wasted. I hope I am wrong but I fear the worst.
