SIR, - Re your story headlined "Mounting cost of nightmare train trip" (Herts Advertiser, February 28). I think it is outrageous that First Capital Connect (FCC) are not accepting responsibility. Are they saying that there weren't three spare seats on the next train that the Shands couldn't have had? Where is their sense of customer relations and goodwill? I think FCC should forfeit their franchise - they provide a terrible service. You cannot get a seat into London in the rush hour and yet you still have to pay the same amount.
Some of their staff, I have to say, are wonderful and are prepared to really try and help, while others are so useless it really makes you wonder.
