SIR - It was great to read in the Herts Advertiser (March 18) that The Orchid Group had achieved a position in the Sunday Times list of the '25 best companies to work for'.
That the Group came in at number 20 was fantastic. Not only are they achievers in that arena but I would like to sing their praises in respect of their community work.
Last year the group paid for the materials and members of staff from the group erected the raised flower bed at Park Street Recreation Ground.
This achievement was a full day's labour, working with heavy timbers and wheeling barrow loads of top soil.
They also repainted the equipment in the children's play area and placed four planted flower tubs inside the area.
The effect of this work was to enhance the look of the Recreation Ground and brighten up the well-used play equipment.

Many comments were made on completion of the work, all favourable, and the bed which was planted with perennials, shrub roses and variegated euonymus looked fantastic.
Now, despite the harsh winter we are seeing the fruits of their labours starting to bloom again.
Congratulations Orchid Group and we hope that you will continue with your community work.
