SIR, - Having read the recent correspondence about the noise and other nuisances in St Albans Central Library in the Maltings, I would like to know why eating and drinking are allowed in the computer section. It is not unusual to see people consuming sandwiches, crisps etc over the keyboards which are covered in crumbs and greasy fingermarks.
Also there are groups of people using mobile phones which I think should only be allowed in a specified area of the library. Sometimes it is quite impossible to concentrate on any computer work with all the surrounding activities - and the screaming babies and toddlers.
