SIR, - I am hoping your readers may be able to help me in my quest to trace a great uncle of mine who lived in St Albans for the last years of his life. His name was Albert Richings and his wife was called Tilly. They had no children. Albert was born in Oxford in 1877. He had attempted to train firstly as a Methodist minister and then for the Anglican church but without success and then toured the country preaching, often living in a small caravan. During the war he had worked as a padre and also on ships preaching and writing letters for the sailors who could not read or write. After the war he moved to St Albans and worked, we believe, as a preacher at a mission church somewhere in the city. At this time he would have been in his sixties. When he died, my mother understood that he was buried in St Albans.

I wonder whether anyone would have any information at all of Albert Richings, could give me any idea of where the mission church could have been or where we could find his grave?
