SIR, - Well done to Cllr Roma Mills for her initiative in pressing for St Albans to make a bid to become a Cycling Demonstration City.
Unfortunately St Albans District Council is very good at paying lip service to promoting cycling but has a very poor track record on implementation so will not be in a strong position to make a case for special funding.
Why does the council employ costly consultants to ask us what we want and then ignore what we say? The public have given strong support for cycling through Verulamium Park so where is it in the Master Plan? As in the past it has been put on the back burner "awaiting further discussions" - is this another case of deliberate procrastination?
