SIR - Stolen and burnt-out cars are an almost weekly occurrence at the Toulmin Drive football pitches in St Albans. It seems that for some reason the district council are incapable of erecting fencing to prevent vehicular access onto the site - probably on the grounds of cost.
What is the cost per annum, I wonder, of wasted police and fire-service time repeatedly removing these vehicles, and of repairing the ineffective boundary posts that are supposed to stop the cars getting in in the first place?
