SIR, - I see from your article headlined "Recycling hotline was overwhelmed" (Herts Advertiser, April 3) that St Albans District Councillor Mike Ellis says that those residents who live in areas described as "Blue Brick" - especially those in the Cathedral Quarter - will not be getting the wheeled bins for reasons of space and aesthetics.

Why should those areas be different? Surely the whole City would look much tidier without the assortment of bins and boxes which are currently littering it. Bring back the black sacks which, once in the refuse lorry, are out of sight and the street is instantly tidy.
