SIR, - Re your story headlined "Great Danes see off health-and-safety rule" (Herts Advertiser, February 28). Great Danes are one of the friendliest dog breeds you can have. They are know as gentle giants and that is what they are. To muzzle them is unnecessary.

We have a two-year-old Great Dane and we can do anything to her including taking her food and bones away - as can our 10-year-old daughter. I would not trust some smaller breeds of dog but I would trust a Great Dane without a shadow of a doubt.
