SIR, - I refer to your short article and photograph (Herts Advertiser, January 31) of flytipping. Having witnessed this truly appalling dumping of rubbish in Hixberry Lane it was me who notified your office so that a photographer was dispatched to get the picture.

Can I now ask all your readers to consider the following: If you have had pink wall tiles and a wine-coloured loo and cistern removed from your home, or if you know of a neighbour who had had such work carried out, please contact the police or St Albans District Council.

This is very distinctive rubbish and someone must know from where it came. Notifying the authorities could result in the criminals who dumped this debris being prosecuted and hopefully prevented from further ruining our environment.
