SIR, - I could not agree more with Joanne Bradley (Herts Advertiser letters, September 18). She is quite rightly upset by the outrageous increase in car-parking prices at Harpenden Station. In St Albans the price has risen even faster - it was less than £3.50 a day in January 2003 and now it is £5.80 a day in Ridgemont Road car park. First Capital Connect (FCC) say that of course they have put in improvements. What improvements? No CTVV, no lighting - just a great new way to fleece travellers into London.
Amersham, which is about the same distance into London charges between £624-£780 a year as opposed to a flat rate here of £869.
FCC is ripping us off - they know it and we know it.
